Park Day

I took the kids to a park in Seaside this morning. We got there around 9:30am so we were the only ones there. This place had pretty big slides, but that didn't phase my kids. After being stranded at home for the last few weeks they were thrilled to go to the park. As you can tell by these pictures they had a great time. I wish they were a better quality, but apparently our camera was stolen when our house was robbed (see older posts) since we never found it in the move. I have to use my iphone to take pictures. Although they are pretty good, i really do miss my camera. Anyway, I digress. Here are some pictures from our morning! Fun day!

New Car!

Finally, After weeks of searching for a new car we found a great deal in a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. If you know Jay and I you know we are really Toyota people, but this car was a great deal and only had 80 miles on it. It gets great gas mileage too. Anyway, I am so glad we found something and I am no longer stranded at home. Yay!

Car Search continues!

After selling my car before we moved here it was obvious that we needed to get something when we arrived. I am such a Mom/Nerd, but I really wanted a Toyota Sienna minivan. Yes, i really do love it. Anyway, Jay started his job last week and we soon realized me getting a minivan just wasn't the most economical choice. (Sad day for me!) Only because Jay has to commute an hour each way to work and we paid $120 in gas for one week. That is insane. So, we are on the hunt for some kind of commuter car. We found a great '08 Toyota Camry but it is a 4 cyl. I guess that is a deal breaker for Jay so we have to find a fuel efficient V6 that can fit a family of 4.. and soon! I am going crazy here without a car, and God forbid something happen with the kids or they get sick while I am home I couldn't do anything because I have no wheels. Anyway, if you can think of a car that fits what we need let me know! Oh, and we also want it to be a 2007-2009 and in the $16k range. Yeah, thats a tough one.

Homemade Playdoh!

After being home all week without a car last week I was going VERY stir crazy. I realized i didn't really have that much around the house for the kids to keep them entertained. I found myself wishing i had bought some playdoh or could find the box of crayons we have somewhere in the abyss of boxes in the garage. Really, there are just so many bubbles you can blow outside. Anyway, I came across a recipe for homemade playdoh which I thoought would be fun to do with the kids and would keep them entertained. So, I picked up all of the ingredients, but really didn't think it would work! Much to my surprise it turned out great! I was able to make the colors we wanted and the consistency is actually better than store bought playdoh. Yay! (You have to really know me to know that I am not the crafty type!) Anyway, I am storing my new creation in small tupperware containers. I thought I would share this recipe in case you wanted to try it too!

Homemade Playdoh

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

2 tbsp cream of tartar

1 tbsp oil

1 cup boiling water

Food Coloring

All you do is mix all the dry ingredients and then add the boiling water. Obviously it is hot, but I found it really started to set up after it started to cool. Make sure it is the right consistency, not too sticky and not too dry. You can remedy both of those situations by adding more water or flour. Then just knead your desired food coloring colors. (I put gloves on my hands so they wouldn't dye to the colors I was using)

Have fun!
